(anything but water), or pacifiers dipped in sugar or any other sweetened products. Bacteria present in the mouth change the sugar to acids that attack the teeth causing tooth decay.<\/p>\n

White spots on the teeth<\/strong><\/p>\n

Early development of cavities (brown\/black) \"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visible tooth decay particularly the front upper and lower teeth<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tooth pain<\/strong><\/p>\n

Infections<\/strong><\/p>\n

Early loss of teeth<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many people think baby teeth are temporary hence not important.<\/p>\n

But baby teeth are necessary for chewing, speaking and smiling. Above all these they serve as placeholders for the adult teeth. If baby tooth decay is left untreated, pain and infection can result or child may develop poor eating habits, speech problems, crooked teeth and damage adult teeth.<\/p>\n

EARLY PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE-<\/p>\n

Wipe the baby\u2019s gums with a clean cloth after each feed.<\/p>\n

Begin brushing child\u2019s teeth with the appearance of 1st<\/sup> tooth.<\/p>\n

Brush teeth using a fluoride free toothpaste (make sure child is getting sufficient fluoride)<\/p>\n

Clean and massage gums in areas without teeth.<\/p>\n

Begin early dental visits for your child.<\/p>\n

Do not allow the child to go to bed with a bottle filled with anything but water.<\/strong><\/p>\n
